February Events

PIZZA & POLITICS
A Federalist Society General Meeting
with David Forte

FREE SPEECH
Could a Supreme Court Justice speak freely on a
college campus?

When
Wednesday, February 10th
12:00-1:30 p.m.

Where
Whittier Law School
Room 7

Mr. David Forte is a Professor at Law at the Cleveland Marshall College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, and an acting municipal judge in Lakewood, Ohio.  We will be discussing free speech on college campuses.  With the growing rate of "safe spaces" it brings to question whether the concept of free speech is dead.

A SECOND AMENDMENT DEBATE
What Were The Founding Fathers Thinking?

When
Tuesday, February 16th
5:30-7:30 p.m.

Where
Whittier Law School
Room 1

Professor Logan Beirne of Yale Law School will be going against our very own Professor Mary Ellen Gale.  Both are experts in the U.S. Constitution in their own right and will be battling over what the Founding Fathers meant when drafting the controversial Second Amendment.  With Gun Control being on the table as of late, it's a hot topic and should be discussed.  Please join us for dinner and a debate.  We hope you can make it!

THE FEDERALIST SOCIETY STUDENT SYMPOSIUM
Poverty, Inequality, and the Law

We will be traveling to Charlottesville, Virginia for the Annual Federalist Society Student Symposium.  This year's keynote speaker is Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.  There we will be present with Federalist Society Student members from all over the country.  The itinerary includes panel discussions, a banquet dinner, and a bit of history.  We will be visiting the homes of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.  It's a trip to remember.
